Biography: Ivan Kraljević, librarian consultant employed at the University Library in Pula, where he has been working since 2002, and since 2022 he is the head of the University Library in Pula. In 2 mandates, he chaired the Association of Librarians of Istria, and from 2022 he is the president again. Since 2011, he has been the initiator and manager of the first and most active Green Library project in Croatia, with around 200 activities (lectures, panels, film screenings, book promotions). He is the founder and first president of the Working Group for Green Libraries of the Croatian Library Association for two terms, and he is the current vice-president of the Commission for Green Libraries. He is the author of several professional works, a member of the editorial board of the web pages of the Croatian Library Association and the editor of the web pages of the University Library in Pula, the Dr. Eduard Čalić Memorial Library, the Antonio Smareglia Memorial Room, the Society of Librarians of Istria and the Green Library. He is the winner of the Tibor Toth Award in 2018 for overall activity in the field of information sciences. Outside of his profession, he deals with original rock music, and for several years he edited and hosted a radio original show about the Istrian urban music scene called "Istarska scena".

Abstract: Green libraries in Croatia since 2011. The presentation discusses the origin and activities of the Green Library project in the County of Istria and the origin and activities of the Commission for Green Libraries of the Croatian Library Association. The aim of the presentation is to provide insight into the reasons for the origin and chronology of activities and to point out the necessity of the existence and contribution of the project and the working group to environmental awareness and environmental literacy. By analyzing the Green Library project and the Commission Group for Green Libraries, the author presents an overview of activities and impact on the community. The result of the paper is a review of the activities of the Green Library project in the past 12 years and the Commission for Green Libraries in the past 9 years.
