ECO-BiblioTECH

Librarians from the villages of Pietrari, Francesti, Valea Mare and Balcesti took the initiative to bring together volunteers, children and mentors in a project through which they developed an ecological approach for their libraries and promoted an environmental protection mindset within their communities. Through a continuous collaboration, by combining ECOLOGY with STEAM, they successfully increased the level of children and young people’s involvement in activities focused on preventing and adapting to climate change.

The main objective of the project was to help participants and the community recognize the importance of laws of nature, natural cycles and how easily irreversible changes can be made through human intervention.

The project activities included:

  • Carrying out courses on ecological topics for librarians;
  • Hosting eco-tech workshops for children and young people featuring presentations on ecological themes combined with the use of modern technologies (AppInventor, Arduino, Scratch, etc.), along with experiments and scientific projects;
  • Organizing visits and practical activities with specialists in ecology and environmental protection;
  • Drawing up the Green-LIB Guide for the implementation of Eco-Tech activities in libraries.

The outcome? Communities that are educated and well-informed, with an increased awareness of the risks posed by environmental pollution. Libraries are now more visible and actively engaged in their communities.
