Encouraging Physical Activity as Part of the NSK European Documentation Centre`s Activities
The Official Publications Collection of the National and University Library in Zagreb along with the NSK European Documentation Centre (which operates within the said Collection) provide access to basic official publications in the field of sustainable development and environmental protection, encouraging library users’ interest in acquiring the knowledge needed to improve their quality of life. Moreover, the Collection seeks to encourage library users, librarians, and general public to participate in a number of UN AGENDA 2030 related programs and activities.
Sports and physical activity have a significant impact on the achievement of one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals – Health and Well-being. The importance of physical activity and sports was also recognized by the European Commission, which launched the European Week of Sport in 2015. The program has also been implemented in Croatia since 2015 and the NSK European Documentation Centre (EDC NSK) joined this initiative in 2019.
This poster presentation will showcase the activities organized by the EDC NSK and its partners during the European Week of Sport: EDC Cycling Tour, Workplace Exercise, NSK Chess Simultaneous Matches, Survival in Nature and Women’s Self-Defense.
In conclusion, EDC NSK serves as an example of how libraries can incorporate sports events in their programs, achieving cooperation with other institutions with the aim of promoting a healthy lifestyle and supporting sustainable development.
