Cultivating Sustainability in Library Work Habits

The Libraries and Sustainable Development project, led by the National and University Library in Zagreb, collaborated with the Commission for Green Libraries of the Croatian Library Association and the Green Library of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb. As part of this collaboration, a survey was conducted to examine the sustainable work habits of library employees, focusing on their practices and behaviors related to environmental sustainability. The primary aim of the survey was to gather valuable insights into the current state of sustainable practices among library employees.

The importance of fostering sustainable habits among library professionals and employees cannot be overstated. Embracing sustainable practices not only contributes to environmental conservation and promotes the concept of sustainable development, but it also benefits libraries and librarians in numerous ways. By promoting sustainability, libraries can assume a leadership role, inspiring environmental awareness and positive change within their communities.

The presentation will focus on presenting the findings of the survey, highlighting key trends and areas for improvement. By examining the data, we aim to identify opportunities for implementing sustainable practices across all types of libraries in the Republic of Croatia. The results will provide valuable insights for library administrators, policymakers, and librarians seeking to integrate sustainability into their professional practices.
